About Christian Ed Print E-mail
The Christian Education program at First Church is varied and exciting, with two church schools to accommodate the large number of children and youth in the classes, several adult classes, and an anticipation of your participation for your own Christian growth. The Christian education goal is to present a lifelong ministry that is Biblically based, educationally sound, and spiritually stimulating to all who participate.

  Church School Learning Goals

A goal of the Christian Education Committee since 1994 has been to have each Church School class, four year olds and up, involved in learning basic material from the Bible and worship so that this material is committed to memory. Teachers are encouraged to work with their classes throughout the year to help them learn age-level appropriate material. All Scripture passages are taken from the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. We believe parents will want to take an active roll in assisting your children to learn this memory work. The learning goals booklets, “Block Upon Block: The Building Blocks of Faith,” are available in all classrooms. Please secure a copy and keep this booklet near your Bible for easy reference. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Bob Barcus at 610-696-0554. May you find this learning to be a meaningful experience in your family’s Christian growth.

Come join us and know that your child is in a safe, loving environment while you worship. To make a reservation, please call the church at 610-696-0554 by the Thursday of the week you wish to attend. We ask that you provide information about your child that will aid us in providing a positive experience for your entire family when you make your reservation. For further information, please contact Rev. Bob Barcus at the church.

Nursery Beepers: Beepers are available in the Nursery to assist parents and staff with the care of our children. Anyone leaving a child in the care of the nursery staff MUST take a beeper for the time their child is in the nursery. This provides the nursery staff with the ability to contact a parent should they be needed in the nursery at any time. Thank you. Your cooperation will help us ensure that everyone has a positive experience while in the nursery.

Confirmation/Commissioning Class is an opportunity for youth, grades eight through twelve, to explore their faith and understand the meaning of church membership. The class begins in September and continues until confirmation in June. Experienced teachers plus the pastors lead the class.
The church school has a long tradition of the First Sunday Offering where the offering of the first Sunday of each month goes to a specific mission.
The class will meet each Sunday from 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. in the Social Hall beginning September 16, 2007.

Vacation Bible Camp is a weeklong educational opportunity for children of the church and neighborhood.  Our theme for 2007 is Game Day Central: Where Heroes are Made! Save the dates of July 30 - August 3, 2007.  Register online here.

Summer Church School is held on Sundays, June through the first Sunday in September, during the 9 am worship service. Children four years old through grade three participate in worship through the Children’s Chat and then leave for their classes.
