Library
The library at First Pres has been developed as a resource for the entire congregation. Our growing collection contains books for all ages.

  • Location: Room 115, on the first floor (at the end of the long center hallway).
  • Who can use: Everyone, ages child – adult!
  • Hours: The library is open any time the church is open. However, since many other groups use the room for meetings, Sunday mornings have been designated for library use exclusively. Often, a committee member will be available to assist you on Sunday mornings.
  • Organization: All books have been computer catalogued according to the standard Dewey Decimal System and have been placed on the shelves by number and category. In addition, you will find a subject listing on the desk to help you locate a specific topic.
  • Check-Out Procedure: Write the date, your name and telephone number on the card found in the pocket in the back of the book. Place the card in the front of the file box on the desk.
  • Length of Time: Books should be returned within two weeks. If you need to keep it for a longer period of time, please indicate on the card.
  • Return Procedure: When returning the books, please place them on the cart in the library. Please do not place the books back on the shelves.
Ways to Build our Library Collection:

The library committee purchases books for the library throughout the year and would like to share with you some exciting ways you can help us build our church collection.

Our gift program will enable you to:
  • Donate a book to honor your child’s birthday
  • Donate a book to honor a special family event
  • Donate a book in memory of a special person
  • Donate a book from your personal library
A recognition bookplate will be placed in each book donated.
In selecting your book, we would remind you that the mission of the library is to provide a religious resource for the congregation. With pastoral assistance, the committee will review any books that are donated to insure that they are consistent with that mission.
If you would prefer, the committee will be happy to provide some recommendations or purchase a book on your behalf.

New Children's Books Needed

One of the greatest gifts that we can give is to share a story with a child. Unfortunately, the children’s selections in our library are limited. A list is available from Judy Schlabach and in the library of good possible additions to our collection. Buy a book for a child and another for the library. Give a gift of a book in honor of someone. Dedicate a book to your child on his/her birthday. Your gift will be used by our families and by our teachers to enhance the lessons that we teach the children.
