Summer Service Opportunities

Jesus teaches us to love our neighbor so this summer we are providing several opportunities for our congregation, including children, youth and families, to do just that!  See details below on how you can get out into the community and share God's love with the neighbors around us.

Schedule

Thursday, August 1, 10:00am - 12:00pm - Gardening at WCU Campus Garden

Join our neighbors at West Chester University to care for their campus garden.  The produce grown in the garden goes to the university's Resource Pantry, which supports students who are food insecure.  All ages welcome!

Friday, August 9 - Food Distribution at Church Street Towers

Church Street Towers is a public housing building for disabled and senior adults located just a couple blocks from First Pres.  Join us on these dates to help the Chester County Food Bank distribute boxes of food and fresh produce to the residents.

Monday, August 12 - Brown Bag Lunches for Safe Harbor

Join your friends at First Pres to assemble brown bag lunches for Safe Harbor to share with the homeless men and women they serve.  We will assemble the bags at church and then take them to Safe Harbor to be distributed as needed. This is a great service project for young kids!

Thursday, August 19, 12:30pm - 2:30pm - Gardening at WCU Campus Garden

Join our neighbors at West Chester University to care for their campus garden.  The produce grown in the garden goes to the university's Resource Pantry, which supports students who are food insecure.  All ages welcome!

Wednesday, August 21 - Cook and Serve Dinner at Safe Harbor

Work together with your family or partner with another family to cook and serve dinner for the 20 residents at Safe Harbor.  Meals must be prepared in your home and then dropped at Safe Harbor.  You can sign up to cook, serve, or both!  Children must be at least 12 years of age to serve dinner with an adult.

Welcome Teams

All summer long your family has the opportunity to serve the First Pres community in a way that might be new to you - be a part of a Sunday morning welcome team!  Welcome teams help usher and greet people on the street - jobs that could easily be done by even young children.  For more information and to sign up, click here.
