Give

We give not out of obligation, but out of joy. In light of the grace we’ve received, we give in order to partner with God in the work of love and justice in our community and throughout the world. We are called to be stewards who give generously of ourselves, our time, our talents, and our resources as a response to God's generosity towards us.

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) affect investors 73 and older, requiring funds to come out of pretax investments (traditional IRA, 401k, 403b) so that tax dollars start to flow to the IRS. If you make at least part of the RMD a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA instead, then you have your account custodian send funds directly to the charity and skip the tax step (excluded from your taxable income). It’s a more efficient way to give to First Presbyterian  than regular, after-tax donations. The QCD from an IRA is also available to anyone over age 70 ½. Make sure to get an acknowledgement receipt for your records. Talk to your tax or financial advisor or Lyn Blessing on the Finance Committee lynblessing1@gmail.com for more information.
