KIDS AND FAMILIES

Sunday mornings at First Pres

We think attending church is an important part of developing faith in kids, which is why we have classes and activities every Sunday morning for children of all ages.  Our primary goal is that the children who call First Pres home begin to know God, both in their hearts and minds, laying the foundation for a deeper faith to develop as they grow.

9:00am service - Sunday School

Nursery care for infants through 3-year-olds is provided starting at 8:45am.

Children age 4 through Grade 5 join their families for worship in the sanctuary with the congregation. After a brief Children's Message early in the service, children can meet their teachers in Fellowship Hall to transition to Sunday School.

Between services

Join other families in Herron Lounge, right outside Fellowship Hall and the coffee bar. This space is set up with activities for kids of all ages, giving their grown-ups a chance to talk and enjoy a cup of coffee.

10:45 service - Kids Connect

Nursery care for infants through 3-year-olds is provided starting at 10:30am.

Children age 4 and older join their families for worship in the sanctuary with the congregation. Children are invited to gather in the Chapel during the sermon, where they hear and play with their own lesson.  Children rejoin their families in the sanctuary after the sermon to finish worshipping together.

Family Worship Sundays

Periodically we have special occasions (such as Communion Sundays) when we want children to more fully participate in the worship service.  On those days, we don’t hold Sunday School as usual during the 9:00 hour. Instead we ask children to stay with their families until the sermon, when they join together outside the Sanctuary for a short lesson.  They return to their families after the sermon to finish worshipping together.

Can't get here Sunday mornings?

We get it - family life is busy.  Sometimes you may have other commitments on Sunday mornings and sometimes the best thing for your family is to stay home and rest.  As parents, there are still plenty of things you can do at home to help your children explore and develop faith.  Click the button below to sign up for Faith-ing Forward, a newsletter we send out about once a month with ideas and resources for your family to use to build faith at home, together, on your own time.
